Tips for Staying Healthy While On Vacation

With March break right around the corner, it can be a challenge to make healthy choices that involve food and physical activity. Depriving yourself of the foods you love is not the solution, nor is letting yourself go. Here are some tips for staying consistent while on vacation. 

Enjoy Your Food

Depriving yourself from the foods you love while on vacation is not the solution. Instead, enjoy foods in moderation or in smaller portions. Instead of feasting, sample these delectable foods and try to keep your treats to one a day. 


Walking is the key to physical activity while on vacation. Take that walk on the beach and go for that post-dinner stroll. Swimming is also a great way to incorporate exercise to your daily routine. 

Think About Your Drink 

Drinks packed with added sugars, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, add unwanted calories, sodium, and/or saturated fats to your meal. Try carbonated water with added flavour from fruit as an alternative.

Be Mindful

It is easy to get distracted and lose focus of what you’re eating. Take time to eat and find space where you can sit down and focus on what you’re putting in your body. 

Stay Hydrated 

Being out in the sun and traveling can dehydrate you. Keep your system running by drinking your daily water requirement. Bring water everywhere you go!
