5 Easy Tips For Spring Cleaning Your Home

Another winter has come and gone, which calls for spring cleaning preparation. Spring cleaning is one of the best ways to get your home ready for the new season. As the kitchen is one of the most high-traffic areas in your home, it’s never a bad idea to give it a thorough clean. Unsure of where to start? Here are 5 easy tips for spring cleaning your home.

START FROM THE TOP

Avoid getting dirt on surfaces you’ve already cleaned by starting your spring cleaning with:

  • Dusting off light fixtures, ceiling fans, and the tops of cupboards
  • Clean windows and remove curtains for washing
  • Dust off the top of your fridge
  • Clean any kitchen decor or wall art

WIPE DOWN COMMON SURFACES

During your spring cleaning, almost every surface in your kitchen should be cleaned. Here is a list of the common surfaces you should wipe down and/or disinfect:

  • Tables
  • Chairs
  • Countertops
  • Drawers and knobs
  • Sinks and faucets
  • Cupboard doors and knobs
  • Exteriors of appliances, including the surface of your fridge, microwave, and oven

CLEAN & ORGANIZE CUPBOARDS & DRAWERS

Remove everything from your cupboards or drawers, wipe the interior clean, then re-organize. If you come across anything you no longer need (or is expired), dispose of it properly. This will allow you to create some extra storage space in your kitchen. This can be a daunting task, but is absolutely necessary when spring cleaning your home.

ORGANIZE YOUR FRIDGE AND FREEZER

Organize your fridge by keeping condiments and non-dairy drinks in the fridge door. This will avoid clutter on the shelves of your fridge. Track your leftovers to ensure that they’re not overstaying their visit on the shelves and to keep your fridge organized. Throw out any product that is expired. When organizing your freezer, if you’re freezing sauces or soup, put them in freezer storage bags and freeze them flat. This makes it easier to stack and store in your freezer. You can also organize your freezer with bins - store meat in one bin and soups in another.

SWEEP AND MOP YOUR FLOORS

Make your kitchen sparkle and thoroughly sweep and mop your floors! Try to do more than cleaning the visible floor areas - try and clean underneath larger appliances, rugs, bins, and try to get into hard-to-reach areas. Your kitchen will thank you!
